I have fallen in love with nature journaling. I’ve been wandering my garden sketching what I find, taking photos, making notes, researching scientific names, and learning as much as I can. Combining my love for art with a passion for learning about nature more deeply is a great hobby!
I just shared a video about this new passion, specifically how I do my small gouache studies in my nature journal. Usually, I paint these studies outside, sometimes filling a few pages, before adding notes about the plants at home (because I want to do in depth research and not misspell anything). But I also make COLOR notes (bottom right) to remember how I painted something.

If weather allows I do these outside from life, because I learn much more about color and light. Because it’s winter, I have been painting what I can see through my window (a lot of branches). But I also made a special trip to the Inverness Botanic Gardens because the tropical area is warm!
