Dark River gouache painting

Day 04/100 of the #100daychallenge.

Snow scenes present a huge amount of opportunity to explore different color and lighting situations. When water is involved, it’s even more varied!

In this Dark River scene I was exploring the effects of an overcast day. On my many walks through the field I often see black streams cutting through the pristine snow. I love that contrast!

Warmth was brought into the grasses to compliment the heavy dark blue tones.
